Books are the source for limitless creativity... the most astonishing work can be seen in this genre of science fiction and fantasy...so lets share titles and recommend some fave books...

...it was a melange of styles...one minute like a simple fairy tale...the next a deep metaphysical paper was being written.
..The closest I can come to describing the feeling I had after reading these books is feeling a bit unreal after watching the Matrix movie for the first time...I do adore the movie and regardless of the fact I believed in the views that were expressed in it or not...I really appreciated the artistic merit and how well it got its message across to the masses...
It was clearly a critique of some sort on the religious establishment...some may even recognize it as Existentialistic beliefs that were introduced discussing on mankind's independent journey toward melding with the universes....or maybe an Atheistic view was portrayed that there is no God/Authority figure...but still in the end it discussed the universal force of love that achieves the goal of happiness and peace...
What struck me the most was the fact these views are introduced in such a manner that are very easily digestible and I kept thinking how would a young mind form new views on life, creation and God... keeping in mind, these books were written for children... quite an effective tool to get those points across...
Interestingly, the work was written for children...eventhough the main characters are children...I found the books to be a bit more like adult novels...
Its about children who travel into different worlds and befriend or stand against beings for or against Dark matter which is known as "Dust" in the books....philosophy,theology,and physics are all incorporated into the novels....
read his books way back...all I remember is that some of his work was strange and funny and very imaginative...oh, and did I mention strange!
...but, I will start reading soon, and maybe ie. the Strangers etc...
Dr. LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins from the Left Behind series.. now that's some gooood reading
well last thing of anderson's i read was the boat of a million years (close approximation) and i thought it was more character and environment driven, but i haven't read anything approaching his full body of work
I thought Poul Anderson was more of a hard scifi kinda guy? I read one book by him many years ago and remember it being quite technical.
for softer/schlokier stuff i like Alan dean foster, Poul Anderson and maybe niven...
we should start a book club here, what do you think any takers?

i never read any david eddings, but my sister was big fan. is he worth the read?

The Da Vinci Code was awesome...but most of the stuff---the revelations---I knew from way back when I was a kid...I love conspiracy theories involving religious and cultural cover ups (Dead Sea Scrolls, Jesus in Buddhist texts/in Kashmir, first man to discover North America was a Chinese Muslim General, Italians sailors got their so called amazingly accurate maps copied originally from Arab/Turkish maps, cocoa exports/addictioins existed thousands of years ago as evidenced of finding caffeine in Ancient Egyptian, Indiana nd Chinese mummies etc) ....so I use to hunt down books and read about them...now we have the Internet to feed our curiosity...
The new thing I picked up from the book was the concept of the Golden Ratio---that is very interesting ...
So anyone heard of David Eddings?...he is a fantasy writer...
Having said that, I think the lawsuit their writers brought against Dan Brown was completely frivolous. I'm glad it got thrown out of court, with prejudice.
