there is differnce of opinion regarding niqab--keeping in mind that the four madhabs originally required women to cover their face. The exception is mostly made for women living in the west based on authentic hadith someone mentioned earlier. According to Hanafi Madhab, if you dont wear it in the west you still have to wear in in a muslim country. But that is beside the point..this is again just another crack down on muslims. If a muslim woman decided to wear...we as muslims have duty to make sure that that we fight for basic religious rights.

Also, I dont really advise women to cover their face living in the west. I think it draws unneccesary attention and you stick out like a sore thumb. It almost defeats the purpose of the niqab.

As far as i know, then it was farz for women to do niqab in the start. But then our prophet told the people, that women dont have to cover their face.

just imagine, there is something you have been practicing all your life, and all of sudden you are asked to change your beliefs because it doesn't meet someone else's standards? I feel for these women who are asked to leave their jobs and careers just b/c they are covering their faces. Meanwhile, I agree that Niqab is not necessary in Islam, but right now banning it is merely for political reasons. I have only a hadiths that supports my argument regarding Niqaab, but when you talk to these girls, they know very well why they are covering their faces. It is our religious freedom that we should be able to practice.

These countries like us, its somewhat the peoples wn fault.

is people with another ethnic baground.
When the first muslims/people with another

Many married muslims. And there is so many mixed families here. But the new generation and the refugee kids act like they own this country.

Cause islam doesnt tell you to wear burqa.

Morocco airline banned prayer at work... i think some workers were abusing this facility (according to the news)...

Mostly ppl who commented didn't obviously know the concept of prayer in Islam. According to many "religion should be left at home"...

You should also read some comments posted on BBC's "have your say.", recently they were discussing banning prayer at work (after the Morocco incident).

so yeah now that they are banning veils, soon they will start banning hijabs. and what are we gonna do? Organize some rallies and then sit quietly in our living rooms and watch Indian movies.

Personally, I don't find niqab necessary, because according to a Hadiths, Prophet SAW ordered women to cover everything except her face and hands. But this is a different a story, right now these people are doing it for political reasons.. and I am pretty sure soon within few years, Hijab will be banned in many places.

That reminds me! what is the content of women rights bill that was just passed by Musharaf? If it doesn't contradict with Islam then why are ppl making such a big deal?

Time to head back homes guys, these countries don't like us anymore even when we are among the most educated and peacful citizens of their socities.
