geek, its just not going to happen. People who donate for world hunger are on the extremes i.e. they're part of a very small population.

Nothing happens unless its economically motivated.

Its like a group who wants the save the polar bears. Thats a great thing to do as well, but like in the case of World hunger, there are a few number of pepole who are actually willing to do something about it.

If you want to reduce world hunger, start at the root cause. Wipe out corruption from their governments, introduce family planning, etc.

Simply trying to get enough food to them will never achieve anything, never. Its hoenstly like throwing gold dust in the river. You're going to be wasting your effort, not to be cruel but thats what it is.

I may be a NAYSAYER myself...

While working with the government, they made it very easy to give to charity (and very hard to ignore the yearly campaign!), but when the UNICEF scandal broke many people, myself included, were shocked that the CEO was making millions and something like 40% of your money was going to help people. I give my zakat to my mosque, the needy that I know, and to struggling family members, but still have a hard time giving to organizations. Your suggested solution in the other journal could alleviate some of my concerns about those organization for sure.

Another concern is what recently happened to Akeem Olajuwon, the retired basketball star. He has been charged with supporting terrorism through his donations to one organization and I'm sure many people have that concern. It took me jumping through many h oops just send my sister money in Egypt, so I can only imagine the scrutiny that they apply to donations. The disclosures that you mentioned in the other journal could also alleviate that concern as well.

So there you have it: a real life semi-NAYSAYER. Flog me for the good of the cause... :P

Unfortunately not. I think it's the other way around, the more you get, the less you give. Greed plays an important role in there I guess. Sad indeed.

yep. may Allah give him guidance inshAllah. I know of a couple of people who are really well off but the more they get the more involved they get in the rat race.
