do you believe this generation is anti-marriage?

I hear it from many young guys who think marriage is something to hold back their happiness, other think of it as a big responsibility which they can't handle.

Even in Egypt now days, many guys and girls don't want to get married. so what's really happening here?

I agree with some ppl here, its not anti marriage, its just a man now a days needs so much more before he can get married. During the prohpet's time ur religion was enough to give to the woman and her family. Try doing that these days and you will get laughed at. You need a mahr, shabka, an apt/house, a car, and be able to support a family. All this on top of being a religous person. In my opinion all this makes me want to find the person closest to perfect as possible. I mean the longer it takes to get married the more i will want in the other person, as the other person inshallah will be getting something great. I dunno, lol, this is just how i feel

Hmm, well obviously I am not a man, but I believe now is one of the best times ever for a man to WANT to get married...most females today m'shallah are very independent, have a career, make a decent salary (while of course maintaining a sense of religion and culture)..and m'shallah most do all this while being fashionable...so what is the problem??? I think people (both genders) are looking for the complete package. A lot of people are after the perfect 10. If people would look at the things that are truly valuable and understand that things are not supposed to be easy, a disagreement does not mean you are bad for each other, it means, time to put our communication skills to the test...maybe there would be more marriages.

Jazak Allah Kheir for reading my opinion.

I haven't seen the anti-marriage people yet. It actually seems like the opposite. Lot's of people are jumping into marraige without getting to know the other person adequately first. Resulting in some unhappy relationships.

yes - changing values & norms in today's fast pace life has certainly changed the way how younger generation looks at marriage and comittments. Lot has to do with the pressure of achieving professional goals & having a stable career which unfortunately in today's fluctuating & shaky economy force us to keep shifting our goal posts.

anti-marriage!! I haven't met any of those people yet! I think marriage is getting put on the back burner for many people b/c of obvious reasons like money and education. In Egypt, they don't have $$ and in the states, people are realizing that they need to stay on top of their career and actually choosing grad school over settling down and starting a family..

not what i am seeing. i see many people afraid from Marriage. maybe one reason for this is because today society is pushing people to be more careful about their privacy. society is pushing people to be seperated from each other, which some people can't imagine sharing their life, money and secrets with someone else.
