Dil loche maahi yaar nu/I long for my beloved

Dil loche maahi yaar nu.

Ik has has gahl kar deeyaaN,
Ik roNdeeyaaN, dhoNdeeyaaN mardeeyaaN.
Kaho phulli basant bahaar nu,
Dil loche maahi yaar nu.

MaeN nhaati dhoti rahi gayi,
Ik gaNDH maahi dil bahi gayi,
Bhaa laaeeye haar siNgaar nu,
Dil loche maahi yaar nu.

MaeN kamli keeti dooteeyaaN,
Dukh gher chuferoN leeteeyaaN,
Ghar aa maahi deedaar nu,
Dil loche maahi yaar nu.

Bulha shauh mere ghar aaiya,
MaeN ghuT raaNjhan gal laaiya,
Dukh gaye samaNdar paar nu,
Dil loche maahi yaar nu.

I long for my beloved.

One speaks, laughing with delight,
Another weeps, sobs, dies.
Tell the beautiful, blossoming springtime,
I long for my beloved.

My ablutions have gone to waste,
His heart is hard.
I might as well burn my jewels and adornments!
I long for my beloved.

I have driven messengers crazy,
I have encased myself in sorrow.
Come home, dear one, let me see you.
I long for my beloved.

Says Bulha, when my lord comes home.
I will clasp him, my Ranjha , in a tight embrace!
All sorrows flown across the ocean.
I long for my beloved.
