Cheese on Toast
One of the most important things we can do is to make sure we get enough calcium in our diet, and since cheese and other dairy products are not only an excellent source of calcium but provide it in a form which is very easily absorbed by the body, what better excuse do we need to tuck into a slice or two of cheese on toast! :)
Unfortunately, dairy products can be high in staurated fat, so the secret of healthy cheese on toat is to use extra Mature Cheddar, goat cheese...humm what else?.... so you'll get lots of flavours without having to use too much cheese. :D
humm... all yummy :) :P a good cheese on toast.
The trick is to get a nice, thin and lightly burned top.
TIPS
Basic Cheese on Toast
Use wholemeal or granary bread to boost fibre and to give a vitamin C kick. Add a layer of sliced tomatoes or even some roasted red pepper before the cheese.
The lazy way to make cheese on toats is to top the bread with whole slices of cheese but if you take few extra minutes gratting the cheese, you can mix it with little milk and wholegrain mustard to make a paste which you then spread over the bread. You'll need less cheese too, which will make it a more balanced dish.
What are your tips ? :P :P
