Brain Machine Interface
The control of a machine by human thought has been the domain of science fiction until recent developments in robotics and neuroscience that have sought to interface the human body and machine directly. This emerging field is called Brain-machine-interface (BMI).
A BMI uses human body signals to control devices such as mobile robot, robotic arm, cursor on the computer screen etc. These signals can be obtained invasively by inserting electrodes into a brain, or non-invasively by capturing signals from the skin surface without implant mechanisms (using EEG as shown in the article). www.sciencedaily.com
