Anyone up for volunteering with Habitat?
Salaams all! I'm so excited that I discovered this site/Village!
So I'm a huge Habitat volunteer. I've gone down several times to the Hurricane Katrina areas to volunteer with the re-building efforts. I was really moved by the presence of so many people, from all over, wanting to help. (I think last year when I went, the ratio of the volunteer population: local population was 2:1).
I wanted to see if anybody was interested in getting a group together and going down there to help out. Its actually fairly cheap (aside from airfare) and everything is tax-deductible. There are tons of church groups down there and it got me thinking, why couldn't a bunch of people of our faith go down together, have a great time, and give back.
