If you guys haven't checked out the soundtrack to this album yet---you NEED to. I actually haven't heard the entire album but the Mere Maula track and Javeda zindagi-tosae naina lagae track are AMAZING. Other than AR Rahman's stuff, I haven't heard bollywood churn out such good songs in a really long time.
I'm not sure what the blue krishna dude is doing in the videos...but the movie looks interesting. The new girl is very cute and the guy i believe is Manisha Koirala's brother. Manisha Koirala and Rajpal Yadav also star in this flick. Not sure when it is due to release.

Check out Maula Mere Maula...

Lubnah, I have 5 daughters, from 14 to 38, they have ways to bring me back to earth, so that I do not feel too self important. They always tell me to lighten up. So I smiled when I read your comment, this is something I often hear from them. Was it a blessing or a polite way to tell me to take it easy? Sorry for the intensity.

I really liked this movie, it has great spiritual undertone and the study on the nature of love, lover and beloved (contrasting two stories of love) is serious and well done. The search for the true nature of love is I think the central theme with disastrous consequences when the caracter uses tradition and religious intolerance to destroy what it cannot obtain. The other caracter destroy himself instead of the object of his love when it is not reciprocated.

I do not think that it was so much a hindu/muslim love story, as it was useful later on to justify the destruction of the person loved. It was mostly the attraction to a dream of a better world (in the case a life in the US) that the hindu caracter represented.

The manipulative capacity of the politicians to benefit of a situation without care for the truth is universal in nature and could be transposed in many countries (I know of the same in France or recently in the US, we know how a war was waged built on deception).

The music is awesome.

Lucknow was a good choice as the background city with all its history of mysticism, knowing that the Sufi devotional practice is built on the actual experience of love for the beloved.

word saima...i thought the same thing...but the guy and girl in the video that are dressed as meera and krishna are actually both Muslim...the main dude-Anwar (manisha koiralas brother in real life) has a friend who always talks about the intensity of love that meera and krishna shared for each other...and therefore he envisions himself and the girl he loves as meera and krishna...dont wanna tell you more...cause i don't want to ruin it for you...but it's def very creative and original....

oh and after seeing the movie...it is totally obvious why the indian/hindu community didn't promote this movie...it didn't even hit theatres here whereas so many retard movies do....they totally slammed hindu nationalists in the movie...

And I wonder why Bollywood always show a Muslim woman running off with the Hindu man, and not the other way around...hmmm ;-)
