Am I losin' fat or muscle?

So I stopped doing cardio for a while, or at the very most maybe like 10-15 mins of it.

I went from 194, where I looked pretty big, down to 170 right before isna. Wasnt super cut like the guy in the pic, but basically no love handles, and pretty trim. Then I gained 4-5 pounds, and recently, havent been doing much cardio, but this morning, I weighed myself and was 168. I havent been eating as much, maybe 1700 calories a day, 150 grams of protein, but been doing more reps at lower weight with almost no break (60 secs) (per the advice of the PT to gain more strenght with power) every other week in addition to heavy lifting where Im basically maxing out....so anyway, Im down to 168, and still got the same love handles I did at 174 or so....more than what i had around isna..but Im still as strong as or stronger than when I weighed 194...

so my question is this: since Im still as strong as when I was much 10-20 pounds heavier, is the weight ive been losing the past couple weeks muscle or fat?

I don't believe in veggie burgers if you're not a vegetarian..If i want vegetables, i'll have a salad before meals or meals with a good mix of protein and vegetables...

I've definitley heard a lot of negative things about soy proteins also

Well, at least now I know why I get so emotional when I have veggie burgers! :P

Hell yeah. I heard soy is the least productive or one of them.

Yeah, Id def reccomend it. It tastes really good and mixability is the ebst ive come across. the second one, the penta--doesnt mix as well, but still pretty good and the taste is good. but with the penta, you get five different kinds, whey, soy, etc...from what ive read, it seems like you want to mix up proteins to get max gains.

OK. No biggy. Just use one serving. Point being, spread it out, increase it, and don't depend too much on desi food to fulfill your nutritional requirements!

Actually, the protein I use has 26 or 27 grams of protein (depending on which one I use)--it's the cleanest protein Ive found, 98.5% protein, no fat, cholestoral (esp important for desis, esp since most protein has 20% of ur daily cholestoral in each scoop), etc...
proteinfactory.com

it's on the bottom left part of the screen under top sellers. I use numbers 1, 2 and usaully 8. Check out, the price is really good and the quality can't be beat.

Theres about 15 grams in 12 ounces of milk so one scoop of 20 is fine. And also, protein intake is only valuable if you do it in proper consumption. So spread it out about 6 times a day and try and crack 200 g's a day.

Try doing situps every day(M-F) as well. Do 3 sets of straight crunches and the next day do 3 sets of side oblique crunches and see how that goes. I just started and feel confident that results will soon come. I also do cardio for 15 minutes after MWF workouts. I do the treadmill but want to try the eliptical due to that shin burning pain I am now experiencing. Anyway, as long as you put in a nice short HIIT cardio workout in after a hard workout, you'll be fine. Don't worry about it too much. Just do your part and follow your regimen as best as possible and hopefully you'll see results.

Yeah, I do need to upgrade my protein, but 150 is probably an underestimate, maybe 10-20 higher (but a lot of days it was just the shakes plus random desi food, so 150 seems to be about the avg), but I do need to up it a bit more with less per meal. I was just taking double scoops with milk, which I guess is too much. Maybe four single scoops with milk, thats closer to 35 each, 140 total, plus one meal of fish, 44 grams, so 174 total. Add in a sixth meal and I guess Im good to go.

I guess I'll try more cardio, but was I losing fat elsewhere? Seems like the only cardio where I lose fat around the stomach areas is the elitpical, keeping my heart rate up for a higher period of time...treadmill i tend to do more HIIT and that doesnt seem to work as well...eh

Yeah, 65 grams in one shot is too much protein. And also, I'm no certified trainer but I'd say to up your protein. SOme say 1 gram per body pound while others say 1.5 per bodypund. You're hitting neither. Aim for 40 grams per meal, or at least try for 40 in shakes while 30-40 in food meals, six times a day. Although thats not gonna get rid of the handles. I guess go back to cardio. I'm giving that a shot as I have the same problem.

also whats the max protein i can take at one sitting? I usaully take a double scoop of protein, so 52-54 grams plus milk, so maybe 65. Is that too much protein per sitting? Ive read the 40 g max, but ive also seen 50 and some shakes go as high as 55, so...whats the deal?
