5 Injured in Beirut Grenade Blast


A hand grenade was tossed off on Sunday evening at a major intersection in west Beirut, injuring five, which is the third attack upon the Lebanese capital in a week.

The grenade was thrown by at a checkpoint in Barbir intersection near the neighborhood of Mazraa, according to Lebanese security sources. Two soldiers from the security forces and three civilians were slightly injured in the attack.

This is the third attack in the Lebanese capital in a week. On last Sunday and Monday, two bombs hit the area of Ashrafiyieh and the area of Verdun respectively, killing a woman and injuring nearly 30 people. On Wednesday, another bomb hit the resort town of Aley, about 20 km east of Beirut.
