has added a new journalCan a single woman go with a group of people who may act as her mahram in the absence of a male relative to go with? My father is old and even though my parents have performed the pilgrimage, he is not fit enough to go again with me and my brother does not seem inclined to go as yet. Any suggestions?

sy00, can you explain to me how is your imam's view correct even in theory. I do not agree with the fact that women cant do Hajj alone.Can you also tell me how is your imam's view of mahram being necessary and if not available its not an obligation correct. From what i have read of Quran, i dont see that.

I looked into this last year and it seems like a single woman can go with a group if she is older than 43 years old. Someone told me if you apply for a visa early, sometimes they might approve it if you are with a group, but you have to apply early. Good luck!

this is our imam's view:allah clearly says that a woman must be accompanied by a mahram.....if none is availble, nor does it look like she will ever have one, then she is no longer under an obligation to do hajj....
allah knows her intention and he made her situation what it is, so he is all knowing and not compulsive in this situation.......
i do not necessarily agree with this view, but i respect it because i believe that it is also correct in theory.....

Ameen.You mentioned the smooth and successful flow of pilgrims to the jamarat. This is as a result of a study to monitor the motions of pedestrian. Helbing (who carried out the study) consulted with the Saudi authorities to plan a new route.....

Salaams All,I just returned 2 wks ago and I have to tell you there was absolutely no crowd or rush at the Jamarat Alhamdu-Lillah. I was expecting it to take all day but Alhamdu-Lillah whenever we went there was never a crowd and we completed it very quickly. As someone mentioned, right now there are two levels to accomodate more ppl (with more under construction). Also the new design (curved walls) covers more area than the previous pillars, so there is a lot more room for people to stand.
Another thing - apparently before the traffic was allowed to travel from both directions but now they're very strict about allowing the traffic only one way....much safer!
