has added a new journalhello out there!! is anyone reading this? who out there is dointheir little part eact=h and everyday to make this earth healthy for our children? Today, I carpooled with a friend bcuz we both had to run errands on the same side of town. I have also gotten my car regularly tuned up to make sure it isn't waisting any more gas than what it has to.
Anyone else want to share what y'll r doing? what about y'll down in the SE where u are have a drought? are u using ur bathwater to water your plants, or only washing ur car once a month instead of every week? any conservation story would nice.
or do y'all want to talk about healthcare instead? just let me know!!

has added a new journalok, green like me. we all know that we need to make a little change in our lives to reduce greenhouse emmissions. (i hope everyone has watched the al gore video at least once). now, i have taken it seriously and started walking short distances, ect. however, i am not going to give up my car any time soon. so i need to make sure that at least my car is evironmently friendly. i rember hearing that it takes just as much fossil fuels to make ethenol as it does to make gas.(see link)

but there was also a story about a car that ran on vegetable oil!! does anyone out there know of a site or a petition that we can go to to get our congress to REALLY push for alternative fuel? like by giving more $$ to people who are researching alternative methods?

has added a new journalWorld Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.
The World Environment Day theme selected for 2006 is Deserts and Desertification and the slogan is Don't Desert Drylands! The slogan emphasizes the importance of protecting drylands, which cover more than 40% of the planet?s surface. This ecosystem is home to one-third of the world?s people who are more vulnerable members of society.The main international celebrations of the World Environment Day 2006 will be held in Algeria. UNEP is honoured that the City of Algiers will be hosting this United Nations day.
The day's agenda is to give a human face to environmental issues; empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future. World Environment Day is a people's event with colourful activities such as street rallies, bicycle parades, green concerts, essays and poster competitions in schools, tree planting, as well as recycling and clean-up campaigns.
