Look at the cauliflower ear on this salay (the Axe Murderer, Vanderlai Silva). You can really appreciate it during the stare downs. Some of us were just bred for war...

im starting to get into the UFC stuff but it comes on randomly on tv.
my instructor was a judo champion in england when he was 19 so he makes us do some grappling.
how do u train for it? im realy tall and big and find the floor work tricky.

COOLthanx
i hav no delusions about becoming a UFC fighter. i dont want my face to be handed to me.
i watch the top 20 knock outs and they were all brutal.
trstworthy
Mauy thai is a great start. And to add grappling to it is perfect for MMA or UFC type events.Best thing to do is to find a Team/School that takes part in MMA events. Its tuff to find them b/c most are underground. B/c to hold MMA events is illegal in some states. I would try to find Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools and just go there and see if they take part in mma events.
I am not sure if its illegal in England though.
So basically the best way to train is to find a mma school.
Floor work is tricky. But just like anythng..stick to basics. Shrimping to get gaurd back..subs from gaurd...taking the back for a rnc. Dont try to do too many Hollywood subs. Of course, practice double leg and other take downs. Always consentrate on position and keeping good position.
Muay Thai..you've done 3 months already..keep at it.
I am sure your basics are getting better. Just practice..throw combos.
To get to the UFC..takes hard work and hard work and dedication and the most important of all is a fan base.
Fighters that made it to the UFC..are fighters that started in small cage fights..small events..and so on.
UFC makes money if the fights are entertaining...if you loose in UFC...it doesnt matter as long as the fans continue to come back. for example..Tank.
So I would check yourself before you literally reck yourself.
good luck training.
