It is our pleasure to inform you that APPNA ( Association of Physician of Pakistani Decent of North America) Council has approved Dental Society as a component society with council seat last year in spring meeting at St Louis MO and it has been forwarded to the Constitution and by laws Committee for approval to give an appropriate name
. The definition of Physician in constitution and bylaws of APPNA in 13.1 " Physician " means person graduated from a recognized medical, dental or osteopathic school l3.6.1 Active membership in APPNA shall be open to anyone who has graduated from a recognized medical, osteopathic or dental school in Pakistan or anyone of Pakistani descent who has graduated from a recognized medical, dental, or osteopathic school anywhere in the world
.13.6.2 To be eligible for active membership in the Association
or in any of its component societies, a physician must hold an un-revoked license in North America and/or be involved in Academics, Medical Research, or management in any field of Heath care in North America, and comply with all provisions of the Bylaws. Our case is similar to '12.1.2 Graduates of North American medical schools may collectively organize in one alumni association'.
The council has promised to give the dental people a separate room for Friday meeting and dinner in APPNA Summer Meeting that is happening in Washington DC on June 25 to 29th2008 at Wardman park Marriot. We are in the process of arranging Dental CME lectures, so far we have two volunteers , Dr Tariq Javed Quereshi and Dr Mian Khalid Iqbal. We are looking for more. In order to maintain a component society minimum number is 25 each year. so we need more members. Imagine having your own Dental meeting and dinner, your own people as council members, meeting with your own Old friends and their Children, making new ones, discussing your problems and have your own say. It is important to make more members.
So please each of you take a leadership role in your community and make more members and especially encourage your next generation dental graduates of US or if you can just provide us with info Email or telephone # at [email protected] or [email protected] . We can communicate and send all info to them The APPNA membership form and Summer Meeting registration form is attached they can also be downloaded at APPNA.org . Please work for yourself. Make copies and give to your fellow dentist in your community. The more you are, the more say you have. especially these days we all want a voice and company of people who are talented and resourceful in a large group. More number more say for our RIGHTS. this may sound corny but if u can catch the dr 90210 episode about it just so you can get an idea it may help; i believe they went to mexico for the trip, which seemed like a heartbreaking but very very rewarding experience nonetheless.
