Assalamu'alaikum wr. wb. I am new to the group and to Naseeb as well. Firstly, I have a practical question with regards to the group - shouldn't it be listed under the "Rights & Wrongs" village category, so that more people are aware of the existence of the group? Secondly, I was kind of hoping that someone in the group would post some sort of analysis on the Darfur conflict (water, race, ethnicity, regional autonomy, etc).

Seen from my perspective, Darfur is not just an important humanitarian issue for Muslims as well as non-Muslims, but also important with regards to race and ethnicity. When are all Muslims going to start treating their Brothers and Sisters equally - ie. systematically struggle against racial hatred and intolerance? Skin color is irrelevant! We all belong to Allah regardless of race or ethnicity. Allah akbar.

Envoys from the United Nations and African Union held intensive consultations with Sudanese officials on Tuesday in a bid to muster support for ailing peace efforts in the troubled Sudanese region of Darfur.

"The idea is to see as many officials as possible before heading to Darfur Wednesday and meeting rebel commanders," AU spokesman Nureddin Mezni told AFP.

UN envoy Jan Eliasson and Salim Ahmed Salim of the African Union talked on Tuesday with senior advisers from the Sudanese presidency as well as intelligence chief Salah Abdallah Gosh.

The two envoys, who are also expected to meet President Omar al-Beshir, will try to rally holdout rebel factions to the peace agreement signed in May 2006.
