has added a new journalI was lucky enough to go to the Premiere of Flushed Away at Leicester Square last week. It's hard to follow acts like Wallace and Grommit and Shrek but Flushed Away is another great classic in my humble opinion. The main character is voiced by Hugh Jackman and is modelled on a bit of a Bond figure which is rather amusing as it was rumoured that Hugh Jackman was being considered for the role as James Bond which was won by Daniel Craig!
Flushed Away is fast paced and very funny, with some brilliant gags and plain funny jokes. It's got a pretty cool soundtrack too. Watch out for the high speed chase to the track by The Dandy Warhols. Works a treat.
There are also some well established 'creature comfort' characters, namely the slugs that really do steal the whole show with their antics (including 'the scream', 'running' and 'singing'). Go watch it, it's a lot of fun.
I attended a Q&A session later with Hugh Jackman and two of the writers which was equally hilarious, it's hard to think that it took them 5 years to make Flushed Away, that's a long time to stay focused, certainly makes you appreciate all the hard work involved! But I think the upside of spending 5 years on a project is that you get to rewrite, tweak things and perfect them. Flushed away has an interesting and touching storyline, thought out characterisations that are so easy to buy into, one almost feels sorry for the villain (the Toad)when one hears his sob story of why and how he came to hate rats! Excellent.

I need someone who can animate 2d for now. Check out toonboom or Anime Studio. We are trying to produce a 10 second cartoon clip on a continuous basis with possibilities of producing something for either Dave Chapelle or George Lopez.
Contact me if you know anyone or if you are interested to know more. Please spread the word
Thanks

has added a new journalAs a fan of animation I love going to the cinema to check out the latest on offer, and taking my neice and nephew too so we can critique the animation after (my neice and nephew are very discerning cinema goers ;)).
Over the Hedge is the latest computer animation from the Dreamworks studio. It is about a food obsessed Racoon (voiced by Bruce Willis) who has a food debt to pay and comes to a forest where he meets a mismatched family of forest dwellers who he introduces to the wonders of the Urban Sprawl behind a newly erected Hedge, trying to gauge their help in collecting enough food to pay his debt whilst fooling his new found friends into thinking he is helping them store food for the winter...
Featuring some loveable little characters. My favourites were Hammy the hyper Squirrel (voiced by Steve Carell) and Tiger an Afghan pet cat (voiced by Omid Djalili) who falls in love with one of the forest dwellers...
There is an all star cast including William Shatner and Avirl Lavigne playing the father and daughter possums. As animations go, there have been some that have fallen short of carrying themselves off lately but Over the Hedge has everything one could wish to have, great characters, great storyline and enough gags to keep it going. A great feel good little flick.
