Without.....

By Chiragh-e-Raah

Without fear, there cannot be courage
Without pain , there can be no gain
Without failure, there can be no successes
Without faith, there cannot be hope

Without humility, false prides blind many
Without good, evil gains power
Without compassion, egos reign supreme
Without respect, rudeness prevails

Without my dear ami ji on this plane
emptiness in heart does remain,
Without sorrow there can be no tears
Without tears there can be no laughter
Without memories there cannot be an anchor
a bridge to cross , keep link with mother

Without lies, simplicity would this realm infuse
Without cruelty, hearts would soften and pay their dues
Without emptiness, there cannot be loneliness
without peace there cannot be love

(work in progress apr 2014 - thoughts penned as 1 yr has passed since my dear ami ji left this realm :( .) May Allah(swt) grant her janah . ameen

please - kindly refrain from using this journal for personal vendettas , any rudeness /disrespect etc. thank you. comments most welcome.. let;s just use this a platform to share in memory of loved ones we have lost

Chiragh's comments to my post is exactly what I meant. In no way did I mean to disrespect Islam.

you are welcome tx :) in a way you are right tx, as one shouldn't have to specifically refer to religion etc as Islam is intrinsic and part and parcel of our actions, demeanour etc /in our hearts, and yes it should be ok to just respond /comment on a very simple , human basis.

Mr G i dont think tx meant it the way u took it....and is in no way being disrespectful to Islam. He is quite rightly saying that there are times to just casually converse. Islam is part of our lives anyways , it is who we are and to be honest the comments flying around on other journals are well way off tangent and more in contradiction to 'way to go and our salvation' :)

Tx canada religion is the structure of human life. We have enough of duniya and eliciting attractions as it is. Show some respect for Islam at least. After all, its the way to go and our salvation.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Chiragh. May she be resting in peace and be granted janah. Not sure why religion always comes out regardless what one posts on here. Can't we just disclose what our hearts are saying and have those that can relate respond. I appreciate the religious perspectives but sometimes that is not what one is looking for. Just a simple response from one human to another :)

however, we shouldn't downplay a father's love either,...it is a different kind/form of love, but vital in it's own right

you are blessed to have grandmothers :) ..sadly my grandmothers had left this life/world long before i appeared.

haseebchowdry (April 20, 2014 at 2:05pm)
yes it explains it certain things for example maybe a greater percieved closeness with the mother's side for example ...it even extends to grandmothers i am particulary very close to my grandma

Chiragh-e-Raah (April 20, 2014 at 2:03pm)
so very true haseeb....as i said it is the purest form/kind of love to be found in this world.

haseebchowdry (April 20, 2014 at 2:01pm)
a mother's love is unique ...its not even the same as a father's love

Ameen

JazakAllah .....haseeb

I think you have taken too literally some of the elements of poem/musings
We , after all are human, and we have emotions, feelings etc .....as we transcend through this life /world, part of our challenge is indeed to learn how to handle those and grow , develop and learn. It is a lifelong challenge. Grieving or remembering beit loved ones does not in any shape or form become an indicator of our Faith - lack of or otherwise.
Indeed if i recall correctly , it is encouraged to visit graveyards anyways...as a stark reminder of our immortality and the fact that we , each one of us , will indeed return to our maker Allah(swt). Remembrance of eg parents who have departed is not wrong, neither is it in reality supposed to be pain free....especially (in my opinion ) that of a mother which is one of the purest kinds of love on this world /in this life.

I am familiar with some of Al Ghazali's works...and you are actually broaching into much deeper spiritual levels :) each of us reaches a different level at different stages of life.

either way inshallah you will find peace and happiness

so one can take the materialistic nihilistic position that there is no morality or goodness in the world or the other extreme islamic position where free will is marginalized ...im in doubt which position to take myself

haseebchowdry (April 20, 2014 at 12:22pm)
on the other hand the islamic perspectie on this issue --"without" is clear. There is a line in the Quran which encapsulates the essence of the true Muslim's acceptance of the will of God --" Everything vanishes except the Face of God" .. All of life is essentially ephemeral and we must realize that. Even the love of a mother or parent. Any of the things can be taken away. A good modern anecdote of someone who totaly submitted himsel to Qadr was Khomenei when he was about to return from exile in france to Iran after many years of struggling against the Shah's regime. A journalist asked what he felt as he was on the plane and he responded --nothing. Think about that was that indictive of a certain callous disregard for the struggles and aspirations and pains of his people ? No it indicated a soul which totally and wholeheartedly in submission to the Will of Allah (SWT) that no event good or bad would affect him emotionally. I believe a longing for love ones that have passed which is excessive might indicate a refusal or denial of reality .

haseebchowdry (April 20, 2014 at 11:47am)
my faith in the goodness of people is totally nonexistent

haseebchowdry (April 20, 2014 at 11:46am)
unfortunately we live in a cruel world...good things happen to bad people and bad things to good people its best to move on. the happiest people are usually the most insensitive selfish and with the shortest memories
