By WhoSaidThatThis is a story for both men and women of Naseeb. I'm a little bit appalled by my experience. But would love to know your take on it.
I'm not a feminist nor am I princess...
This weekend I hung out with a friend. I was introduced through a mutual friend. We've met twice before. Not for a date or anything, just friends. I was visiting his city and he asked to hang out. I said sure. We went to the busker festival.
We decided to grab coffee. I have a Starbucks gift card, I exclaimed. Obviously implying the coffee is on me. After watching a couple of shows we stopped by a pizza shop. I decided to buy a slice of pizza as did he. Then came the moment to pay. I pulled out cash and out of courtesy offered to pay for him as well and he let me !!! I mean the total was $9. Not a huge deal but I felt that it was very ungentleman-like of him.
Am I overreacting?

ok, so if you saw me on the street and approached me, damn well right i would never give my number. i would scream and run away! no not really..but apparently i'm a snob at first impression.
on a serious note, you are right that happens... why? because of the damn labels that desis are so quick to put up. The moment a desi girl is friendly and approachable, she's loose/easy/slutty etc etc etc. the list goes on. That's why girls have been taught to keep their guard up... not going to lie, I definitely have my guard up. The last thing i want is to be labelled. This is going to sound super gay, but it ain't easy being a brown girl. lol We can lose our izzat faster than you can change your cell phone plan. (ok bad analogy haha) but seriously we have alot at stake. Already it's hard to find a decent match. you have ONE incident of an aunty seeing you with a male friend and its game over. All the other aunties will know about it. Point of the matter is, we have to protect ourselves from the creeps and in the process nice guys, like yourselves, get shafted too.
On the flip side, there's a certain manner to make things happen. If you randomly walk up to me and say "hey, you cute. Ca'i have yo numbaaa?" yah no thank you. but if you casually chatted me up and then eased into it, then i don't see why not. You have to build a certain level of confidence. Most brown girls are not trashy. They are from good families and want men from good families too.
I based my comment on this quote,
"You know what I don't get though. Anytime I've dated a white guy, he always insists on paying and I have to fight to pay for myself. They get really insulted. So why would white girls want to date brown guys and pay for themselves?"
The other quote was simply apart of my reply. And I'm completely calm. And already dropped the topic in my previous post.
The next one should be good hopefully. Deffo controversial.
I'm going to write another journal. Stay tuned!
mmm, now you're making me hungry.
Guess what I am having right now. Bun kebab with apple sidra. Mmmmmm
