Death of heart in falsehood

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Death for the man who indulges in story-telling in order to make some people laugh and for that he relies on falsehood. There is death for him, there is destruction for him.”

Death comes to all human beings, to good and bad people. It is the death of the heart that is meant in this Hadith.

As the physical heart sustains physical life, the spiritual heart sustains spiritual life. The spiritual heart is the fount of Eeman. Therefore, once the heart dies, it doesn’t matter how much longer a person lives, for the good that could have come out of their life is over.

Telling, retelling and spreading untruths, kills the heart. We should avoid it as we would poison.
