Can any nation progress when they have nut cases who are killing others based on religious ideology ?

This is why Salman taseer got murdered. I totally agree with Taseer and his stand. Pakistan is going back to stone ages. Religion is destroying the country. I say Gov't should be secular, if anyone wants to follow any religion or no religion, they are welcome to follow whichever religion they want. Religion should be be shove into someones throat and expect everyone to act or think like rest of the sheeps, "fatwas' should be outlawed. Those who kill in the name of religion, should be treated as HATE CRIME on top of the murder , and be punished severely.
No one has a right to forcefully or through "preaching" convert a person to any religion. The best example is Turkey, although 96% of it's population are muslims but the gov't don't mix religion with politics. What's the result? Stable country, stable economy with progressive views that bringing prosperity to it's citizens. Have you heard terrorist activities in Turkey? have you heard any suicide bomber coming out of Turkey? Bottom line is, TAKE THE RELIGION OUT and make this world a peaceful place to coexist.
